Hinnonmaki Red is a red gooseberry variety with round, juicy, sweet fruit ready to pick in midsummer. It is suitable for both dessert and culinary use.

It has a vigorous upright growth habit and is easy to grow in most soils, in sun or partial shade, so long as kept moist when establishing, and watered in periods of drought to ensure sufficient water to the developing fruit.

The flowers provide an early source of nectar for butterflies.
