Much used in naturalistic urban plantings, Feather Reed Grass, Calamagrostis 'Overdam' is a compact tufted grass, forming a clump of narrow, yellow to cream-striped leaves. In summer it produces attractive feathery sprays of purplish flowers becoming a golden brown in winter. The leaves die back in winter, but it will regrow from the roots in spring.

VALUE TO WILDLIFE

While not native to the UK, forming large tufts, it provides ground cover for birds and other creatures.

it prefers a sunny or lightly shaded area but does not do well in dense shade.

Scottish Government Plant Passport Registration Number GB-S 03473 (needed for shipping plants WITHIN the UK as well as outside).
